Hi Norbert,

Thanks for the info.
I have been developing an interface using OpenDBX 1.4.4 Windows binaries.
So far, all works well on my testing on Windows XP and Firebird 2.1
Do you intend to release 1.5 Windows Binaries?
Maybe, but don't count on it as the 1.5.x series is a development branch for
adding new features and is intended for testing but not for use in other
projects. There are only a few reasons to use a release of 1.5 like for
testing in your own developement branch. Please use 1.4.4 or later (if
released) resp. consider 1.6.x when it will be ready.
OK, thanks, I'll look out for it. 1.4.4 is fine for my immediate requirements. The only issue I've had is handling null field values which I vaguely remember reading that you were addressing in a later version. In any case, it's not an immediate problem.
Currently, there seems to be a problem with the Firebird backend in Windows
threaded environments but I'm still investigating this.
If I find any issues I'll let you know - but so far, my limited testing has been OK with firebird and mysql.
Many thanks to you for developing this.
Just for my interest: For what application are you using the OpenDBX library?
I develop applications that sit in the centre of multiple databases on multiple platforms in a language that's not commonly used these days. I am trying to evolve a common access mechanism regardless of database. Often I end up with a mix of ODBC, ADO, OLEDB and so on depending on the mix of databases and operating systems. So far I have developed a mapping layer on a one for one basis to about 80% of OpenDBX functions, and I've developed a higher level interface to that mapping layer to (among other things) implement navigable result sets using variant arrays. It's early days yet and I'm still playing around with different ideas.

Regards,

Mark
