I did not think too much about all arguments and facts in "detailed analysis", but after a quick reading I agree with the thoughts and with the conclusion that for particular user need the current behavior is a step back. I still have difficulties to find a user scenario founding the step from OOo 3.2 to LibO's behavior. @Karl: Brilliant! I agree with your thoughts - "2008-10-06 Kohei filed a proposal issues.apache.org/ooo#94698 ...". - I agree with your disagree concerning "duplicate of 54993" for pache.org/ooo#94698.
