I restarted to make sure nothing system wise got stuck or into hang resulting in all additional attempts to trigger the crash but ran into the crash again on first attempt after restart. Nothing special about my gpg setup I'd say. Have multiple secret keys of which one resides on a yubikey. It is fascinating that with all those attempts the public key list only over showed a single time for me and I was even able to created an encrypted document in that case. All further attempts failed and resulted in a crash and error message.
