Another data point, definitely "case-sensitive" isn't the right term for Word's behaviour. For example, I notice this sequence: - create a document in Word: <w:name w:val="heading 1"> - re-export with LibreOfifce: <w:name w:val="Heading 1"> - re-load the exported document in Word and save: <w:name w:val="heading 1"> So Word (at least the Office 365 version) is able to match "Heading 1"/"heading 1".
