Description:
I am in the process of migrating to Libre Office from MS Office. So far it has
been going well with Writer and Calc being the apps in scope right now.

I maintain a spreadsheet of significant household purchases and I include a
soft copy of the invoice or receipt for each in purchase inserted into a cell
of each purchase row.

The soft copy files are a mix of JPGs and PDFs. This time I needed to convert
an Outlook email into a saveable format for the spreadsheet and so converted it
to a .HTM file as there were a limited number of choices.

I then discovered the process for inserting a file into Calc worked quite
differently from MS Office. I tried a number of different methods within Calc
to do it, but they twice resulted in Calc crashing (and a dialogue coming up to
submit a bug report). Calc then offered to recover the files I had open and I
clicked Ok to do that. I can't recall all the steps in the process, but Calc
eventually became unresponsive and I had to reboot the laptop.

I opened the spreadsheet in Calc again and found it had lost all the previously
inserted JPGs and PDFs. Excel confirmed this. Thankfully I was able to recover
my corrupted spreadsheet from backup.

I went back to Excel and inserted the .HTM file as required and it all worked
normally. Calc can now open the spreadsheet and I can view the newly inserted
.HMT file.

This was a real shock to have an office app crash so badly and corrupt data in
the process. What happened here???
