Interesting. I tried this using "Apply to Calc" and the missing file was not
created.

I tried it a second time using "Apply to all" and the missing file was not
created.

But then I tried "Tools -> Customize..." and the warning no longer happens.

So this has fixed...  something.

Note that the warning was published to the console, which you can't see if you
start Calc from the desktop GUI (which I expect is most people). Also, it
didn't seem to affect anything in Calc.

I bet you're right about the PPA impact: some configuration item was set in a
specific way by the version I had installed from the PPA, which was saved over
the uninstall and reinstall, and then the "real" version pops this warning.
