I think you may need to add additional information.
I opened LibreOffice, wrote many lines containing .+ in different fonts and
styles(such as italics, bold, underlined, regular, etc.)
I went to Edit -> Find And Replace
In the "Find" textbox I wrote .+
I clicked the "Format..." button to open format search
I searched and chose "Sans Serif Collection"
Underneath in "Style" it defaulted to Regular, I then deleted "Regular" and hit
OK
I clicked "Find All" and it found each instance of .+ regardless of style
(bold, italics, regular, underlined, etc.)

Expected results:
find all cases of .+ in Sans Serif Collection font, regardless of style
Actual results:
found all cases of .+ in Sans Serif Collection font, regardless of style

>From what I understand, you would like LO to default to not having the
"Regular" style in find/replace. However, you can easily delete "Regular" from
style choice and it will search for all styles in the given font. Is there
something else that I am missing?
