Writer froze when the very moment I had to restart it after turning Skia back again, and then it crashed without any error message when I opened and tried to close 12 documents. However, I've noticed quite visible performance downgrade with Skia disabled, especially in Cals (in general, but most noticeable with a couple of pages of data)) and in Writer (larger documents).
