Bug ID: 165579
Summary: Wishlist: regression policy
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
I have been unable to find an official policy document regarding the handling
of regressions (something similar to
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/process/handling-regressions.html). In
case it was my search to be poor, please take my apology in advance: sorry for
the noise and please be so kind to point to it.
Otherwise, I would like to advocate something like this for a project this
critical (LibO is basically the sole full featured open source office suite),
with specific reference to regression causing crashes and "long lasting"
regressions. Since every crash has the potential of resulting in data loss
(e.g., unsaved changes to documents, corrupted documents, etc.), these are
particularly significant. By long lasting regressions, I mean regressions that
remain unfixed through a whole development cycle (i.e., for more than 6
months), which means that even remaining on the conservative "still" branch one
will still first or later suffer from the regression.
