          Priority: medium
            Bug ID: 66273
          Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: Superscript asterisk a{*} character missing in formula
editor due to being a binary operator
          Severity: enhancement
    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: Linux (All)
          Reporter: [email protected]
          Hardware: All
            Status: NEW
           Version: 4.0.2.2 release
         Component: Formula Editor
           Product: LibreOffice

The asterisk in the equation a^{*} appears as an unrecognized character (broken
equation). Repeat by pasting this in formula editor in Libreoffice Writer and
bug appears immediately

I wonder if the asterisk as an operator shouldn't be a feature since other
document editing software (i.e. excluding math/excel etc) uses Libreoffice's a
times b as the only command for multiplying.

I post because the use of a superscript asterisk is basic/essential to any
mathematician etc who works with anything in equilibrium, as ^* is the common
way to represent them

Importing documents from Microsoft/google docs leaves the character as blank
(applies to all file versions).

Bug in 4.0.2.2 but I'm guessing this is a master bug if anyone can reproduce in
3.* version
