Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.2.3.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]

Description:
Currently, I am using LibreOffice from Nepal. It's been a few years since I
started using it, and most things are fine. However, we Nepalis use Nepali
fonts like Preeti, Sumod Acharya, Khaki, Sagarmatha, Himalb. I'm not sure what
these are precisely called, but in my understanding, they are common fonts.
When writing in these fonts, many problems appear.
According to Nepali grammar rules, if a word doesn't fit on one line and moves
to the next, the entire word should move together. But this doesn't happen in
LibreOffice; it breaks words in a way that Nepali grammar considers incorrect.
For example, if we write 'विद्यालय' (School) using the Preeti font, and it
doesn't
fit and moves to the next line, the word gets split, like 'वि' on the upper line
and 'द्यालय' on the lower line, or 'विद्य' on the upper line and 'ालय' on the
next
line.
In Nepali grammar, the vowel signs ा, ि, ी, ु, ू, े, ै, ो, ौ, ृ,(्), ।, and
other marks
like ँ, ं, ः play a major role, and they are integrally connected to the base
characters of a word.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. First need to know about Nepali Language and Nepali word formation along
with its rules.
2. Find out major component that need to do while writing, what cannot be break
with words.
3. There are two major writing method in Nepali 1. Using common fonts and 2.
Using Unicode
Actual Results:
used to break word while writing, word doesn't fit on one line and moves to the
next
Expected Results:
Need to do proper research on Nepali Language and Word Formation
Reproducible: Always
