The slide view should show the contents of the last selected slide, so you don't have to squint. If you select slide #3, then press Shift and hold it, then select slide #4 - Impress does not show you the contents of slide #4. > Shift is literally called a modifier key, so of course it means that you are > in a different mode while using it.
