            Bug ID: 169945
           Summary: Severe FontBoxWYSIWYG performance problem
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 25.8.3.2 release
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: UI
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
We upgraded from LO 24.8.4 to LO 25.8.3 and are using X11 thin clients and
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen. This means many copies of LibreOffice are running on a
large server and being displayed on remote X displays on separate
workstations/users...

The WYSIWYG font listing pull-down used to work great, it would quickly list
all the fonts, user could see what they look like, page/scroll, and select a
font. Now it is unusably slow (like 50 to 100 times slower). I put a network
trace on and it is consuming the entire workstation's 1Gb/s network connection
with any activity in that fontbox, almost continuously. It will also do this
some with SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 as well (it is quite slow but nowhere near as
bad; unfortunately we can't use gtk3 VCL for other reasons).

The only workaround we have found is to go into expert config and turn off
ShowFontBoxWYSIWYG. But this leaves users with no way to choose fonts by
seeing a preview "catalog", which is a huge loss/regression for them.

Steps to Reproduce:
Use a thin client or remote X11 connection and export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen

Actual Results:
Pull-down font list is unusably slow and lagging, even at Gigabit connection
speeds.

Expected Results:
Pull-down font list should be fast and responsive.

Reproducible: Always
