Bug ID: 170738
Summary: Writer Find and Replace All bold or italics with
yellow highlight incorrectly resets font styles to
regular
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.0.3 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
When using Find and Replace > Replace All in Writer to apply yellow
highlighting to words in an .odt document that are in bold or italics, such
words are correctly highlighted in yellow, but their font style is reset to
regular.
Note that Writer will correctly apply yellow highlighting to such words if Find
and Replace > Replace is used instead to find words one at a time and apply
yellow highlighting. Yellow highlight is correctly applied, and bold and
italics words retain existing font styles.
Version: 26.2.0.3 (X86_64)
Build ID: 620(Build:3)
CPU threads: 20; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (build 26200); UI render: Skia/Raster;
VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a document in Writer containing at least two words in bold and two
words in italics.
2. Edit > Find and Replace > Click on "Find:" field > Other options > Format >
Style (under "Western") > Bold > OK
3. Click on "Replace:" field > Format > Highlighting > Color > Yellow > OK
4. Click "Replace All"
To reproduce issue for italics, repeat steps above, but in Step 2 choose italic
instead of bold.
Actual Results:
All words in bold in the document are highlighted in yellow. However, the bold
characters have been reset to regular font style.
Same issue for words in italics; they are highlighted in yellow, but font
style is reset to regular.
Expected Results:
All words in bold remain in bold, and would be highlighted in yellow.
All words in italics remain in italics, and would be highlighted in yellow.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
Workaround: This issue only occurs during Step 4 if "Replace All" is clicked.
The workaround is to click "Replace" instead which applies yellow highlighted
to bold and italics words one by one. When "Replace" is so used, the bold and
italic words remain bold and italic, and are highlighted in yellow.
Obviously, this not a convenient workaround for long documents.
