Bug ID: 171591
Summary: FEATURE REQUEST: User-selectable scroll rates,
sensitivity, or reduction factor
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.2.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
>From bug 164721 (and bug 171181), scrolling horizontally was found to be
inconsistent.
Bibisect by jcline 2025-11-22 shows a reduction factor was introduced based on
the ratio of default cell width to default row height
(https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/24effe0edd9ae1ea9e4dd8e0bdabd5f25e1b9a68).
This help page
(https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/how-to-change-default-cell-sizes/63962) suggests
the defaults are hard coded as 2258 and 452. This appears in response to scroll
speeds being unwieldy when using touch pads
(https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135478, and possibly
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119745).
I suggest that scroll rates/sensitivity/reduction factor be user-configurable.
The current ratio of vertical to horizontal scrolling seems like a reasonable
choice. I find scrolling horizontally is for slow myself but understand that
too much speed is probably worse off for control.
Steps to Reproduce:
Suggested path:
1. Open LibreOffice Calc
2. Tools > Options...
3. LibreOffice Calc > View
Alternatively, in LibreOffice > Advanced > Open Expert Configuration
Actual Results:
No options for scroll rates, sensitivity, or reduction factor
Expected Results:
Options for scroll rates, sensitivity, or reduction factor
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
