I don't understand the reasoning. The save prompt is an alert for the user that
they should be mindful of the next step. According to the logic in your
request, there should not be default keyboard shortcuts for closing a document
or quitting the application either.

Edit Mode in an existing document is toggled with Ctrl+Shift+M or from the last
entry in Edit menu.
