The way to actually test that hypothesis is to create a similar case starting from an empty file in Excel without any influence from the file that was created in Calc, not even a copy+paste from Calc to Excel. The test file should be created as a new empty file in Excel, create the test cell in Excel, save the file as xlsx, close the file in Excel, and then open that newly-created file using Calc. With that new file, how Calc displays the cell in comparison to how Excel does? How the hyperlink features are treated (vs Excel)?
