            Bug ID: 173559
Summary: Spell Check fails if a hyphen is included in an alpha
                    field
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.8.0.3 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: Windows (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
Spelling check by pressing Function Key 7 fails if the text contains a hyphen /
minus embedded in the text. No error is shown in red but the complete sentence
is displayed and spell check stalls.

If the 3 Example lines below are in a document being checked the check fails
on the first line which is displayed in the “error box” from the start up to
and including the “e.g.”, ( which is in the dictionary), but not the end of
line BV-A.

Attempting to continue the spell check from this point fails with variable
results.

The problem is to do with the hyphen.

Selecting just the BV-X also fails and displays the entire line as above.

Example lines 2 and 3 do the same.

However, if the hyphen is changed to some other character, such as a + plus
sign, the spell check does not fail and the “spelling” can be ignored once,
all, or add to the dictionary

Examples
BV Ball valves - identified as BV-X where X is upper case A to Z e.g. BV-A
GV Gate valves - identified as GV-X where X is the Tank Id e.g. GV-T3
CV Check valve - identified as CV-X where X is the nearest BV identifier

Actual Results:
See Description above.

Expected Results:
Spell check should not stop on hyphen

Reproducible: Always
