            Bug ID: 173747
Summary: Dark Mode Spelling and Grammar Checker Readability
                    Enhancement
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: UI
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
The default settings for LibreOffice dark mode make it difficult to identify
typos in the document. With default settings at 12 point font, the squiggles
indicating a misspelled word are easily missed. Merely changing the colors to
something with more contrast somewhat alleviates this, but it's still a little
difficult to notice in a long document, especially when in the middle of a
typing flow. I usually work at 200% zoom and it's still easy to miss!

To be honest, it isn't much better in light mode. I'd not used LibreOffice with
a light background until creating this report. The obvious difference in my
browser's rendering of the perceived mistakes in this description field show
the deficiency of LibreOffice's default wavy lines for typos and grammar
mistakes regardless of light or dark mode.

Version: 26.8.0.2 (X86_64)
Build ID: 680(Build:2)
CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 7.2; UI render: default; VCL: kf6 (cairo+wayland)
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Debian package version: 4:26.8.0.2-1+b1
Calc: threaded

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a writer document.
2. Set zoom to 100%.
3. Set font size to 12pt.
4. Ensure spell check is enabled.
5. Misspell a word or words.

Actual Results:
The wavy line underneath a misspelled word is very thin, even when zooming up
to 200%. This is especially true on a dark background.

Expected Results:
The wavy lines for spelling and grammar mistakes should be easily visible at
100% zoom at 12pt font.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I suggest looking into scaling the squiggles a little better, in addition to
changing the default color for dark mode. The latter may not be necessary but
worth considering.

Such changes should provide a nice QoL improvement for people using writer for
long, thick documents.

This is a sore point even across different screens and resolutions, from my
1200p IPS laptop monitor, to my 1440p IPS and 4K WOLED desktop monitors.
