Bug ID: 173837
Summary: Find/Replace function
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Good morning. I switched from MS Office to LibreOffice and found that the
Find/Replace function is designed (in my opinion) for "experts" rather than
home users. Even AltSearch (which is extremely powerful) shares this
"technical" feel. I used to be a developer myself (I am now 80 and retired);
when I was in charge of a data processing center, I wouldn't ask end-users to
troubleshoot issues. Instead, I would stand behind them while they used the
applications I had created; by watching them, I could figure out what needed
improvement to make the workflow efficient. Sometimes you don't need to invent
something new—you can simply look at how other applications handle things and
replicate that approach. This isn't a criticism of your work, just a
suggestion. Thank you, Cesare.
