Bug ID: 173876
Summary: TEXTBEFORE and TEXTAFTER behave differently than the
Excel version
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 27.2.0.0 alpha0+ master
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Tried using the functions TEXTBEFORE and TEXTAFTER on a dataset to figure out
how many digits there are after the decimal period, and I notice the functions
behave differently to Microsoft Excel versions.
If a cell has numbers and a decimal point, Calc and Excel work the same.
If a cell is blank Calc shows Err:504 and Excel shows #N/A
If a cell has a number, but doesn't have a decimal period, Calc shows a blank
cell and Excel shows #N/A
There is also the problem of putting the range and it not spilling, but I think
Calc doesn't have it yet right?
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a Calc file and put some data with decimal points, empty or just whole
number. Or use sample file.
2. Use textafter and textbefore with "." as delimiter.
3. Compare results.
Actual Results:
A blank cell shows Err:504.
Cells with data but no delimiter show blank cell.
Cell with the delimiter works the same.
Expected Results:
A blank cell shows #N/A.
Cells with data but no delimiter show #N/A.
Cell with the delimiter works the same.
Reproducible: Always
