--- Comment #6 from Leonard <[email protected]> --- The F5 key can be difficult to find, especially on a foreign laptop and by persons which are inherently using pointing devices and not primarily the keyboard (and there are major groups of such persons - and many do hold presentations with some frequency). There are some problems with Comment 5 [https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=173685#c5] and I wish to point out some alternative solutions as well. A. Ribbon View The Ribbon view in LibreOffice is new: the position of the Slide Show buttons was previously close to where the Tab is right now. So users may not be quite as familiar with this new position. This may be even more annoying, if the current caption of the buttons ("Start from First Slide" and "Start from Current Slide" is shortened, making the buttons more compact - which I hope to be done). I am not familiar with MS Office, anymore. B. Solutions There are some alternative solutions - and I will mention 3 possibilities. 1. Position those buttons so that they fall close to the position of the Tab. This is also the position where they ought to be. This is the solution mentioned in the initial post. 2. Move Presentation Tab closer to the beginning / Home tab. Statistics for my own usage are something like: - Mostly Home tab, sometimes Insert and File tab; - Presentation tab: less often, but relevant when holding the presentation! - Other tabs: almost never; - I never used the Design tab; the View tab seems more important, but somehow I never used it and it is after the Slide show tab anyway; By the way, the tab usage (frequency and timing across an Impress session) could be recorded and provided as feedback to the UX team (e.g. by users who opt for such a feedback program). 3. Presentation mode for Impress Useful during a presentation session. When set, all presentations are opened directly in the "Slide Show" tab: so users do not need to switch the tabs. I do not know if this is currently possible. Does not solve all issues. But at least simplifies starting of the presentations during a session with multiple speakers. When I restart LibreOffice, it does not open in the Slide Show tab (which is probably preferred - but during a presentation session that tab is better). This should be the way a UX designer approaches this problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
