Thanks for your advice. It works the way you describe only some of the time.
That work flow is not stable. The fix does not require hardcoding a specific
location, and as described below it can accommodate flexible workflows.

Assume this folder system: DRIVE:\PDF-Final\Writer-Drafting (where DRIVE is
the Windows or Linux device). The Writer document is generated by opening a
.DOTX located in the Writer-Drafting folder and will be a .DOCX file.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR: (1) The .DOCX file is composed and in the Save-AS dialog,
the default save folder automatically shown as the originating Writer-Drafting
folder. (2) A PDF Export-As is invoke, and the default export folder is shown
as the Writer-Drafing folder, but the user clicks the breadcrumb for the
PDF-Final folder and does the expoort. (3) The user finds a copmpostion error
in PDF file, corrects the still open .DOCX file and does a Save-As, which again
is automatically defaulted to the Writer-Drafting folder. (4) A new Export-As
is done to the PDF-Final folder.

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR: (1&2) Steps 1 & 2 execute correctly. At step 3, the default
Save-As foldr is PDF-Final instead of the originating folder for the .DOCX file
(Writer-Drafting). (3) At Step 3, the user has to manually select the correct
folder (and may make the mistake of negelecting to do so). (4) At Step 4, the
previously selection PDF-Final folder selection has been replaced with the
Writer-Drafting folder, and the user must manually select the correct folder
(and may make the mistake of neglecting to do so).

SOLUTION: In combination, two improvements would correct those difficulties:
(1) provide the option of a user-default choice to always save Writer files in
the originating directory; and (2) provide the option of a user-default choice
of a specific folder for exported PDF files.
