Apparently LibreOffice doesn't support LaTeX (see comment)

Attached is an example.md file that does work except for the LaTex portion.

I believe this is why I'm having issues. LibreOffice doesn't support LaTex. If
so, then this bug can be closed or should be turned into a feature request to
make LibreOffice better. I'll leave that up to you.

Different Native Formula Syntax

LibreOffice uses its own built-in tool called LibreOffice Math, which utilizes
a proprietary markup language rather than LaTeX standard macros.
• LaTeX syntax: $\mathbb{N}$ or $\equiv$
• LibreOffice Math syntax: setN or equiv
Because it does not automatically recognize the backslashes (\) or LaTeX
keywords, the equations appear as broken, literal code strings.
