--- Comment #2 from Adalbert Hanßen <[email protected]> ---
You can easily reproduce the error by quickly pressing adjacent keys in rapid
succession — essentially playing a trill on the keyboard. For the letters “u”
and “i,” at about 20 alternations per second, LO Writer recorded the following
for me:

iuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuuiiuu

The interesting thing is the doubling of characters. There seems to be a
certain pattern behind it.

I tried it again with mousepad. The result there was:

uiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiuiu

Observing my CPU load "thermometer", the CPU load rose from 3 to 4 % before the
keyboard activity to typically 26...28% (30% peak), whereas in mousepad it
typically rose to 5...6 % (12 % peak).

The typical memory usage at this point was something like 27% of the available
memory.

Perhaps the severity level of this bug report should be raised after all,
because a very experienced users can exceed a typing speed of about 20
characters per second over extended periods of time. For me, this happens
especially with letter combinations like “wer,” which are next to each other on
the keyboard and which I can therefore type very quickly and reliably without
mistakes. Over extended periods of time, I’m not a “particularly skilled”
typist.

These observations reinforce my suspicion that characters entered quickly in LO
Writer can get out of order by it. - I recently observed something similar on
another computer running Windows 11 (I am not sure about the version of LO
there): There, even input rates of more than 2 characters per second sometimes
caused the characters to get jumbled. LO Writer was performing completely
unacceptably in that case.

These incidents occurred while I was editing documents that had, for example,
160 pages or more.
