--- Comment #2 from V Stuart Foote <[email protected]> ---
+1, to a labeling change on the MSI packaging.

So yes, Windows Explorer became File Explorer, and the LibreOffice extension to
the Windows shell (explorer.exe) is shlxthdl.dll [1], is being built with core
as an optional extension, and is selected enabled on the MSI packaging by
default labeled as "Windows Explorer Extension". That name can be confusing
(though technically it is still correct).

While most features of the LO extension are visible on the Windows shell's
"File Explorer" UI, it might be appropriate to simply rename the feature as
"Windows Shell Extension" with no need to change otherwise?

The W2K / Vista era extension is probably past due for native code refactoring,
Mike K. kept after minor issues, e.g. Unicode, and there are outstanding
desktop integration enhancements, e.g. transparent thumbnails (bug 127433), a
preview handler (bug 89964), or handling of ODF in Flat XML (bug 53534) that
need new implementations.
