--- Comment #39 from Olivier Mehani <[email protected]> --- Created attachment 209580 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=209580&action=edit xkbcli dump-keymap-wayland tl;dr: doesn't work out of the box, but setting a shortcut to Ctrl+: does! Maybe this should be added as a default? --- Sadly, I can confirm that the issue is still present for me on x86_64/Arch/Wayland/GNOME 50.5 and a us(dvorak-intl) mapping. This has survived a complete system reinstall (with the same HOME dir). FWIW: This is what pressing LeftCtrl+;, then LeftCtrl+Shift+; sends. ``` $ xkbcli interactive-wayland 10s seat0: state [ locked-mods: 0x00000010; effective-mods: 0x00000010; leds ] seat0: key up [ RTRN ] seat0: key down [ LCTL ] keysyms [ Control_L ] unicode [ ] layout [ #0 English (Dvorak, intl., with dead keys) ] level [ 0 ] mods [ Mod2 NumLock ] leds [ Num Lock ] seat0: state [ depressed-mods: 0x00000004; effective-mods: 0x00000014; ] seat0: key down [ AB01 ] keysyms [ semicolon ] unicode [ ; ] layout [ #0 English (Dvorak, intl., with dead keys) ] level [ 0 ] mods [ Control Mod2 NumLock ] leds [ Num Lock ] seat0: key up [ LCTL ] seat0: state [ depressed-mods: 0x00000000; effective-mods: 0x00000010; ] seat0: key up [ AB01 ] seat0: key down [ LCTL ] keysyms [ Control_L ] unicode [ ] layout [ #0 English (Dvorak, intl., with dead keys) ] level [ 0 ] mods [ Mod2 NumLock ] leds [ Num Lock ] seat0: state [ depressed-mods: 0x00000004; effective-mods: 0x00000014; ] seat0: key down [ LFSH ] keysyms [ Shift_L ] unicode [ ] layout [ #0 English (Dvorak, intl., with dead keys) ] level [ 0 ] mods [ Control Mod2 NumLock ] leds [ Num Lock ] seat0: state [ depressed-mods: 0x00000005; effective-mods: 0x00000015; ] seat0: key down [ AB01 ] keysyms [ colon ] unicode [ : ] layout [ #0 English (Dvorak, intl., with dead keys) ] level [ 1 ] mods [ -Shift Control Mod2 NumLock ] leds [ Num Lock ] seat0: key up [ AB01 ] seat0: key up [ LFSH ] seat0: state [ depressed-mods: 0x00000004; effective-mods: 0x00000014; ] seat0: key up [ LCTL ] seat0: state [ depressed-mods: 0x00000000; effective-mods: 0x00000010; ] ``` Seeing this right now (the colon being sent), I went into the Tools/Customize options, and assigned `Ctrl+:` to `Insert Current Time`. This worked! [Previously, I had it assigned to Shif+Ctrl+;, the default; and Shift+Ctrl+:, a manual workaround which previously, but no longer, worked]. So it looks like something on the way swallows the Shift+;, and silently transforms it to :, swallowing the Shift in the process, which doesn't match what LO expects. Oddly enough, the same doesn't happen for Shift+Ctrl++ (Insert Cells). BUT OH! Insert Cells is actually already linked to BOTH Shift+Ctrl++ AND Ctrl++. I wonder what would happen if.... No: removing one then the other shows that, in my case, it is Shift+Ctrl++ which applies, so the opposite behaviour to what I see for Insert Current Time. That said, it looks like there is a precedent for both the Shift+...+shifted-character and non-Shift+shifted-character shortcuts to be defined by default. Perhaps that's all that's needed here?
