            Bug ID: 174344
Summary: in the print menu, the means for specifying the pages
to print can lead to printing the whole document by
                    mistake.
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.8.1.1 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]

The print menu with the problem area circled.

In Writer's print menu, I request two changes. One is to simplify specifying
which pages to print. The other to avoid printing the whole document by mistake
when meaning to print only a few pages.

In the attached screenshot, the menu row with the Pages radio button is
highlighted with a red box.

1) A common convention among many other programs is that typing page numbers
in the field automatically turns on the radio button. I Writer, if the user
tries to do this, it is necessary to stop and click the radio button - an
unnecessary step.

Expected behavior: The radio button should turn on automatically when the use
clicks in the Pages field.

2) The page selection field has a greyed-out prompt to print the whole
document (such as "1-21"). If the user clicks the radio button and then clicks
in the field the prompt does not disapper, which cna result in printing the
whole document by mistake. Similarly, if one clicks the radio button and then
the print button, the whole document will print.

Expected behavior: The prompt should disappear and be inactive when the radio
button or the field is clicked.
