OK, I found the problem - it was my fault. I was over-agressive in removing
unwanted sub-packages. The problem I was seeing is the result of my not
installing the "gnome-integration" sub-package. With that gnome-integration
sub-package replaced, window resizing works fine. Happy with LibreOffice-4.1.1
now.

I don't know if this applies to you... Did you skip or remove sub-packages? The
gnome-integration package includes libraries in /opt/libreoffice4.1/program,
including gnome-open-url and libqstart_gtklo.so to name 2, in case you need to
check.

The full name (in the Linux RPM distribution) is:
libobasis4.1-gnome-integration-4.1.1.2-2.i586.rpm
