Restart LO, create a new text document, write a random character sequence, right-click it. See that Add to Dictionary has subitems: "other1.dic" and "other2.dic". No "new.dic" and "standard.dic". Note that this differs from what the OP described. If the new directory contain spaces in the name, the sequence keeps up to and including step 10, then changes: 11a. Restart LO, go to Tools->Options->LibreOffice->Paths and edit Dictionaries. See that the new path is replaced with second reference to the standard "wordbook" directory.
