I moved to the most recent jdbc connector from mysql, at
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/j/ This is version 5.1.26. I set
this up in the classpath for java in LO. I get the same problem.

I have now tried this on a Windows 7 system running LO 4.2.1.3, sharing the
same test database over my network. Same problem.

All my systems are on the latest Oracle Java 1.7.0.45.

I am baffled as to why it works for you and not for me. Did you try my test
version? You said you are using mariadb, so it shouldn't be an issue there.

The reason I can't see why fonts are involved is because the unchanged form
(and direct table access) work with Mysql(Native).

As far as I can see the issue must be in one of:

- in the interface between LO and jdbc
- in the jdbc element of the LO client
- in the jdbc element of the Mariadb server
- in the interface between Mariadb and jdbc

I don't have the equipment or skills to pursue this, and if it cannot be
replicated outside of my network then I'm lost!
