Unfortunately the test file for this is confidential; perhaps we can work on
getting a less confidential one built. Nevertheless it doesn't really have much
text included - a good number of slides and lots of those big pictures beloved
of users. IIRC it took 30secs or so to load - in excess of what I'd expect.
The callgrind trace shows it taking 57% of the time in FcCompareValueList with
236 million calls :-)
I attach the profile of that - quite possible we're just screwing up some
freeze / un-freeze layout type thing and so doing dynamic layout as the slides
are populated or somesuch.
