I tried to follow the steps you laid out but ran into a snag: My version of Windows 7 does not seem to follow orders. I changed my file settings to show hidden and system files, as may be seen in the screen print: http://sigma3.info/cloud/LOcolorbug/filesettings.jpg But when I try to open "documents and settings" I get this http://sigma3.info/cloud/LOcolorbug/errormessage.jpg This is pretty basic stuff, and it is frustrating to run into a snag at this point. Do you have the name of the file? Should also remind you that similar behaviour occurs in Thunderbird, but in no other applications. I will post something to a Thunderbird group.
