I'm not sure about the difference in how Excel and Calc handles links inside excel files. Opening the test file in Calc and clicking the link works - but opening the file in Excel and clicking the link does not. When using Excel a new libreoffice process i spawned, so something happens. But the process just hangs, or does not result in a UI (not sure which). As you can see (from the attachment) it is launched with the command line argument "-Embedded", not sure what that means.
