You're right, different colours do work ok, but different line widths (eg
0.05pt, 1.25pt) can't.

I can't send an example, because it doesn't work!

Insert table into new writer document
Table/Select/Cell
then format top border as default, and bottom border as something much thicker.
The format wizard appears to show that both are then set the same; quitting
back to the table shows that; reselecting the cell and checking properties also
shows that nothing took.  The thinner width wins out each time.

The same is true when changing the line pattern.
