Upon opening some .doc files, LibreOffice (4.2.1.1 Mac 32-bit) makes the
original files bigger and changes their modification dates. The files can be
downloaded from here, "Press release (DOC) / EN":

Now I am afraid to allow LibreOffice open any files without either locking them
or making copies first.
