While that is true, some of us are "stuck" with what is [right now] current...
and RHEL 6 is still what is current in business and it is likely to never be
"fixed" for this issue (because it isn't going to use a very recent CUPS). 
Some people can't just "upgrade" the OS on whim because they want to.  And for
them (like me), this issue has been a pain for years and might remain a pain
for more years to come.

LO created the problem, it would be nice if it were fixed instead of just
waiting yet more years for everyone to just be on newer PDF renderers.  Let us
not forget, the problem is not just with displaying PDF's generated by LO, it
can also affect just regular printing in LO on affected systems (
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71104 )

It would work to ignore a bug that isn't even majorly the fault of some other
project...
