Bug #: 46268
Summary: re-order LibreOffice Program Group on Windows
Classification: Unclassified
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
On Windows 7, the LibreOffice installer places shortcuts into the Start Menu
and the All Programs menu program group. The current ordering of that list is
sub-optimal.
The first item on the list should be the main LibreOffice program. This is
important for users who do not recognize the names of each individual program.
It is
also important that if the user has limited space in her Start Menu, that the
main LibreOffice program be visible. In the current, alphabetical I think,
listing, if the user has limited space on her Start Menu, you end up with
something like this:
http://new.tinygrab.com/a048938ebe29484dfc30ddb75a2295e7777a6b7421.png and I
think it's a safe bet that is the least likely to be used of the apps in a brand
new install.
Ideally the others would also be ordered in terms of their popularity rather
than alphabetically. I'd recommend that under the main LibreOffice program, you
order them as such: Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Base, Math. Swapping Calc and
Impress would be reasonable.
This puts the most likely to be used programs at the top of the list and has
the added benefit of being consistent with the ordering of programs in the
LibreOffice selection/launcher program.
