Bug ID: 87782
Summary: Problem with pagination in LibreOffice 4.3 Writer
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 4.3.0.4 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Have recently downloaded and installed Ubuntu 14.04 and have the following
problem for which I have found no solution via Launchpad, and have been advised
to report a bug. The problem is as follows: when working on a book/chapter
project, the pagination is awry. When I go to FORMAT/PARAGRAPH/TEXT FLOW and
insert the required number, the correct pagination appears right through the
document. But when this same document is saved and then re-opened, the first
page number is purely arbitrary i.e instead of the number previously entered -
say, 124 - it can be 63 or 35, or 76 - you name it. This is enormously
frustrating and time consuming: I have to manually type the starting page
number at the top of page and the concluding page number on the last page, so I
can keep track of the pagination when I print out. Also, when I open TEXT FLOW,
an arbitrary number appears in the window - again, could be 65 or 72 or
whatever, and when I click on RESET the window does NOT return to zero.
Something is weirdly wrong here. I've used LibreOffice since it replaced
OpenOffice in Ubuntu and not encountered this before. I save my documents as
.doc files and am wondering if this causes problems with 4.3. HOW CAN THIS BE
FIXED? Right now I'm considering a return to MS Word and Windows to complete
my project and give libreoffice the flick ...PLEASE ADVISE A.S.A.P. Thank you.
