Bug ID: 88322
Summary: Debian Repository for LibreOffice Still
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Installation
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Hi,
Apparently TDF doesn't run the LibreOffice PPAs on Launchpad that lack a
repository which offers whichever version is currently considered 'Still' (see
bug 88318).
My enhancement request is that rather than (or in additional to) TDF offering
lots of seperate .tar.gz files filled with .deb packages on the web site. TDF
hosts an actual signed Debian repository with these same packages, e.g.
deb http://deb.libreoffice.org/ still main
This would be a woefully easier way than manually extracting and installing
individual packages, provide for automatic updates and allow the main programs,
help files and language packs to be accessible from one central place.
Those who seek a solid and stable version of LibreOffice prefer 'Still' but may
still be on an long term supported Linux distribution like Ubuntu 12.04 that
won't expire until 2017. This repository would be handy to those people rather
than them being stuck with LibreOffice 3.5 for years. Additionally when 4.3
becomes 'Still' it would be handy to Ubuntu 14.04 users also (which already has
4.2). Obviously this repository would also be handy for Debian and Mint users
too.
I'd be more than willing to lend a hand as I've ran Debian repositories before.
Steven
