For me not reproducible with LO 4.4.0.3, Win 8.1.  I have the button EDIT
DOCUMENT where I can enter the password.

If you enter a password in the File Encryption Password section of the password
save dialogue box then this file needs to open a password.  If you enter it in
the File Sharing Password section (-> + OPTIONS) then you need a password to
edit this file.  The file is in this case opened as Read Only.  To edit the
file you need to select the button EDIT DOCUMENT and to enter the password. 
This EDIT DOCUMENT button you can find in the Read Only bar below the menu.

@Bug Reporter:
Do you not have this EDIT DOCUMENT button or do you mean that this is not
meaningful enough and that there should be additional information?
