My DE are LXDE & XFCE (Fedora). Both notebooks run a Pentium VI, with an ATI
Radeon (so the Nouveau driver). They have respectively 786 MB and 1 GB of RAM.
I have just tired John instructions on XFCE. The screen rendering looks like
"back in the 80's" and the fonts look terrible, but I can confirm that – so far
– the libreoffice modules (Writer, Impress, Draw, and Calc) are not distorted
anymore on my system!

The text rendering is still noticeably lagging (or slow) when I scroll UP/Down
with the mouse wheel. It's a tad better when I "Page UP/Down" with the
keyboard. But scrolling does not break all the windows as it used to be. Great
findings John!

How about the other users affected by the same problem?
