            Bug ID: 95219
Summary: No way to break linkage between numbered lists
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]

Sample document (three consecutively numbered lists created from one)

There seems to be no way to break the linkage between two or more numbered
lists once it’s made.

Sample session:

1. Create a new text document.

2. Add a numbered list using eg. the toolbar button. Add at least two numbered
points to it.

3. Now go back to the end of the first numbered point and press Enter twice to
mark the end of the numbered list. This creates a new paragraph in between the
numbered list, but there’s still a linkage between them: the numbers in the
second list start from where the first list ended, and there’s no way to break
this linkage I know of.

For instance, in Format|Bullets and numbering dialog it is still claimed the
numbering in the latter list starts from 1. If this is changed, the numbering
in both lists change.

This is not just a minor annoyance because it affects numbering styles as well.
If a new numbering style is created and the style applied to more than one list
in the same document, those lists are irrevocably linked and their numbering
consecutive. This effectively makes the numbering styles useless, because you
would need as many styles as there are numbered lists in the document! There’s
no way to create a numbering style without this linkage as far as I can see.
