Sorry, the UTF-8 method is actually a little easier to do.

When using the UTF-8 coding method, it is only necessary to continue to hold
down the Ctrl+Shift while tapping the code. And you can typically just type the
last two code characters e9 to get é.

An added benefit to this method is that there is a vast range of available
characters, well beyond the simple accents. ™ trademark or © copyright are
examples.
