But since the real cause for this problem is technically unsolvable, whoever wants to "solve" it may end up spending a lot time for a very little gain. IMO this is something the users need to be aware of. The limitation applies to all software that runs on current hardware, not just spreadsheet. Some mathematical and statistical software overcome this by not using FPU and doing it all at software level.
