I uninstalled the only instance of Libre Office from my Programs folder. It was
listed as 5.0.5.2 there. The actual program was listed as 5.1.3.2 in the Help,
About window.
I re-installed 5.1.3.2 from the same Setup file as I used last week, and the *
is back. It works again, for now.
Also, the Update notification is no longer showing up, so a re-install might
have been all that was necessary.

This is the same comment that I posted on bug 100106, as a re-install fixed
both.
