No problem.
Mendeley was not causing the bug as it appeared only when I updated the LO
package.
So I went the easiest way: I unistalled LO, deleted it completely from my
computer and reinstalled the previous version (5.1.2) and voila, the plugin and
the reference manager are working as smooth as before.
I guess it is better to wait a bit longer before upgrading LO.
