As other languages make use of these kind of files, e.g. acor_en-US.dat for
American English, this issue related to updates not brought to these files is
not only related to French then. Other languages could be impacted if they have
received reforms in the past few years. I think to Dutch for example.
I completely agree with you regarding statements like ambigue --> ambhiguë. I
didn't even know "ambhiguë" has ever existed, despite being a native French
(Belgium) speaker.
What I wanted to know is that if the auto-correction feature couldn't be moved
to the dictionaries themselves. But I assume, if we proceed like this, the
words won't be auto-corrected but only underlined in red and left to the user
intentions to correct them, either by right clicking, or by running the
spelling checker.
If there is no intention to deprecate and remove these autocorr files, maybe it
would be great to put a statement to translators and ask them to review these
files to see if there are still up to date wrt. current languages rules, or
ping the authors of the respective dictionaries languages.
