Set the cursor into a heading. Open the sidebar and there the properties panel.
Open drop-down of "Numbering" and click on "More Numbering" (Or use the same
drop-down from the toolbar). Goto tab "Outline" and select one of the presets.
If your cursor is inside a heading, then LibreOffice is smart enough to detect,
that you want a chapter numbering and it makes all settings in Tools > Outline
Numbering according the preset without any further action by you.
