Thanks a lot for the fast follow-up!
I have noticed the mentioned behavior working on impress on slides that include
text boxes, images imported from external files and shapes. For instance,
clicking on the text-box makes the text-formatting toolbox appear, deselecting
it or selecting a different object removes it. The same is for the image (which
shows the image format toolbox) and shapes (showing the shape-formatting
toolbox). I have not tried any other kind of objects, but I can only assume
they behave similarly.
Also, none of these toolboxes appears floating, but embedded with the other
default toolbars at the top of the window.
